Botanicals Tour

Botanicals are the plants, roots, seeds, peels, flowers, and spices that give many spirits their signature aroma and flavor.

For centuries, distillers have used botanicals to transform a neutral spirit into something expressive and complex. Gin traces its roots to medicinal herbal spirits in Europe, eventually evolving into a spirit defined by juniper and supported by countless botanical combinations. Today, distillers use ingredients like coriander, angelica root, citrus peels, chamomile, cinnamon, and peppercorns to create distinctive flavor profiles that reflect both tradition and creativity. Every botanical contributes its own character, turning spirit-making into both a science and an art.

At Distillery of Modern Art, botanicals are at the heart of two of our most distinctive spirits. Nouveau Gin layers juniper, coriander, angelica root, orris root, citrus peels, cassia cinnamon, Szechuan peppercorn, and chamomile into a bright, modern gin that balances classic structure with contemporary flavor. Amaro Peach takes inspiration from traditional Italian amaro, blending peach, Valencia orange, and a complex mix of herbs and bitter botanicals to create a spirit that is simultaneously sweet, bitter, fruity, and deeply aromatic—a distinctly Southern expression of a timeless category.
