Silent Book Club is a global community of readers, with more than 1400 chapters in 54 countries around the world led by local volunteers. Silent Book Club Brookhaven is coming to DoMA for a silent reading hour followed by a social reading hour. 

Read It Again is a new and used bookstore located in John’s Creek that also carries a charming selection of gifts, cards, and novelties. Owner Kim McNamara visits DoMA on a regular basis to set up a mobile shopping cart for a recurring “Boozy Book Fair.” 

This collaborative celebration of books and reading is free to attend and open to the public. Food and drinks available for purchase.

Hosted by professional calligrapher Arielle Basha, this community event is a meetup designed to help connect fellow calligraphers, and give you the time and space to sit down and practice with intention. Our host will be walking around the room, checking in with each artist to see if they would like any feedback or guidance with their current work. You’re welcome to ask any questions you may have, or simply keep your head down and do your thing!

Supplies will NOT be provided, please bring your own. However, Arielle will have beginner kits available to purchase if you’d like to re-up your supplies at the event (including a pen holder, 3 nibs, and a pot of black sumi ink). She will also have some practice pages in modern calligraphy available to borrow during the class, or purchase to take home at the end of the meetup.

Hot Pepper Comedy is a stand-up comedy game show where featured comedians try to perform their regular sets well so the audience does not punish them. If they fail to land their jokes with the audience, then the comic is punished by being forced to a hot pepper. Then their set will resume and the comic will struggle to complete it. If their jokes won’t make you laugh, then their pain will.

Strategically opening just after Earth Day, “Illuminated Reflections” centers the idea of what it means to ponder our humanity. This exhibit is curated by Memento Gallery and showcases the talents of two female artists (Edi Atlanta and Zoe Antona) who have each had their individual hurdles to overcome but also highlights how light— whether as a physical element or an emotional metaphor—has the power to heal, inspire, and offer new perspectives.
