Distillery of Modern Art has opened its doors and is ready to showcase the fantastic Atlanta-based artists to the community.
On Friday, June 24th through Sunday, June 26th, Distillery of Modern Art hosts a special artist pop-up with Jen Boaz and Rupal Mamtani in the Watson Gallery for guests to take in their artwork and hear from the artists themselves. Both live in Atlanta currently, but their journeys are vastly different, which is showcased in their work.
Mamtani was born in Uganda, raised in England, of Indian ancestry, and now an Atlantan. Having always been drawn to art in some form, Mamtani now specializes in painting in abstract styles using bold color, textures, and layers. The collection that adorns Distillery of Modern Art’s walls takes the viewer on a personal journey from her refugee and immigrant story to her childhood memories to her carefree adulthood days and ends with being selected to exhibit work in the Watson Gallery. Attendees of the pop-up event will be some of the first to see brand new work she’s never shared publicly.
Also, having abstract artwork to share, Boaz will be showcasing bright faces and silhouettes and other original works on paper. Born and raised in Atlanta, Boaz grew up with art and creating art- even majoring in studio art in college. After having her own jewelry business for 18 years and treating painting more as a hobby, COVID allowed Boaz to realize painting as her true passion, and she has been creating art full-time ever since.
Both artists have an engaging perspective that they will bring to Distillery of Modern Art, allowing guests to take in the artwork, mingle with the artists, and enjoy a craft cocktail made with their premium spirits.
