In celebration of the Paris 2024 Olympics, we’re leaning into Parisian Summer vibes here at DoMA. You can see that in our Summer Pop art exhibition in the Watson Gallery (June 27 – August 18 featuring local artists Howard Kurtzman and Percy Rivera) and in the summer cocktail names we’ve listed on our seasonal menu. This week, we’re transitioning our cocktail pairing paintings in our Kandinsky Tasting Room to these beautiful new pieces by local artist Jen Boaz (JB). We asked Jen about her artistic process for this round of paintings and what summer vibes mean to her:
- How did you approach this summer 2024 series?
JB: “I feel like this collection took a turn from previous ideas but in a good way. These pieces are open and airy. The colors are contrasting, the saturation is deep and intentional, and they feel alive, which reminds me of summer.”
- What does summer in Atlanta mean to you?
JB: “Summer reminds me of camp (Barney Medintz). But now that I’m too old to be a camper, summer makes me think of being sweaty and wanting to be inside where there’s AC and paint.”
- What is your favorite cocktail to sip on in the summer?
JB: “This one (holding up 3 Little Birds). This is great!”
Purchase these paintings and more on Jen’s website or in our tasting room throughout the summer.
